파리 올림픽 개막식 이후 수많은 논란이 발생했다.

 

네티즌들 사이에서 많은 논란을 일으킨 중요한 문제는 국가 소개 중 발생했다. 206개 국가 중 48번째로 소개된 대한민국이 북학으로 영어와 프랑스어로 잘못 불렸었다. 많은 네티즌이 IOC를 비판했다. IOC 공식 X(구 트위터) 계정은 이 오류를 빠르게 인지하고 한국어로 사과했다. 또한, IOC 회장 토마스 바흐는 윤석열 대통령에게 직접 전화를 곧 걸어 사과하겠다고 공개적으로 발표했다.

그러나 네티즌들은 만족하지 않았다. 공식 인스타그램 계정의 최신 게시물 중 하나는 개막식 동안 참가한 여러 국가와 그들의 국기를 보여줬다. 특히 한 사진이 분노를 일으켰다. 다른 국가들의 국기는 선명하게 표시되었지만, 한국의 국기는 멀리 있는 다리 위의 관중에 초점을 맞추며 흐리게 처리됐었다. 한국의 선수들이 전혀 보여지지 않았기 때문에 더욱 논란이 됐다.

 

 

선수들의 생활 환경도 문제로 떠올랐다, 많은 사람들이 믿기 어려운 대우를 받았다고 비난했다. 예를 들어, 음식은 선수들에게 가장 중요한 필수 요소 중 하나로 크게 기대되었었다, 주로 프랑스가 그들의 정교하고 첨단 요리로 유명하기 때문이다. 그러나 현실은 상대적으로 빈곤했다; 모든 음식이 채식주의자용이었기 때문에, 올림픽은 기후 변화와 이산화탄소 배출 감소를 옹호했다. 더욱이, 아보카도는 외국에서 수입하는 것이 환경에 해롭다는 이유로 메뉴에서 제외되었다. 어느 레스토랑에서나 클래식한 옵션인 프렌치프라이도 튀김 기계를 구하기 어려워서 거부되었다. 

 

 

다른 주목할 만한 비판으로는 올림픽 빌리지와 버스에 에어컨이 없다는 점이 있다, 그곳의 온도는 과도하게 상승할 수 있으며, 잠재적 테러 공격 때문에 창문을 열 수 없었다. 이로 인해 많은 선수들이 메스꺼움을 느꼈고, 한 선수는 열사병으로 기절하기도 했다. 게다가 버스 운전기사들이 다소 아마추어여서 경기장과 숙소 사이를 이동하는 데 걸리는 시간이 두 배로 늘었고, 창문이 깨지는 경미한 사고가 발생하기도 했다.

 

논란이 많은 시작으로, 파리 2024 올림픽은 불확실한 미래와 피드백에 직면해 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고, 많은 유망한 선수들에게 지난 3년 동안의 노력을 세상에 보여줄 훌륭한 기회로 남아 있다.

 

Numerous controversies have arisen following the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics.

A significant issue that sparked widespread commentary among netizens occurred during the introduction of the nations. South Korea, the 48th nation to be introduced out of 206, was incorrectly called the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea instead of the Republic of Korea. This mistake was met with a swift and vocal reaction from many netizens, who criticized the IOC for this error. The public's reaction was so strong that the official X (formerly Twitter) account of the IOC quickly addressed the issue in Korean. Furthermore, the president of the IOC, Thomas Bach, publicly announced that he would personally call the President of South Korea to apologize for this error, acknowledging the public's concerns.

However, the public's dissatisfaction was not assuaged. The latest Instagram post from the official account, which displayed numerous participating nations and their flags during the opening ceremony, further fueled the public's anger. A particular slide, where the flag of Korea was blurred, focusing on the audience on a distant bridge, was a stark contrast to other nations whose flags were vividly displayed alongside their proud athletes. The public's reaction to this was swift and vocal, making it clear that their concerns were not being addressed.

 

 

The living conditions of the athletes are also a concern, as many lambaste the unbelievable treatment they’ve received. For example, food, one of the most important necessities for athletes, has been greatly anticipated, primarily because France is known for their exquisite and state-of-the-art cuisine. However, the reality was relatively impoverished; all the foods were vegetarian, as the Olympics advocated for climate change and less carbon dioxide emission. Furthermore, avocados had been deterred from the menu due to their import from foreign countries being harmful to the environment. French fries, one of the classic options for any restaurant, had also been rejected simply because frying machines were complex to get. 

Other notable criticisms include the lack of air conditioners in the Olympic Village and buses, where temperatures can rise to excessive amounts, and the fact that the windows cannot be opened due to potential terror attacks. This led to the trembling of the athletes’ health, as many had nausea; one athlete even passed out from a heat stroke. Furthermore, bus drivers, being rather amateurs, had even doubled the time cost to travel between arenas and residents, even having minor accidents where the windows were smashed. 

 

 

With a controversial start, the Paris 2024 Olympics face an uncertain future and the feedback they will receive. Nevertheless, it remains an excellent opportunity for many aspiring athletes to showcase the hard work they've put in over the past three years.
