세계투데이 - 기후 운동가들, 또다시 모나리자에 수프 던지다

 

 

세상에서 가장 귀중하고 유명한 예술 작품인 다빈치의 모나리자가 현지시간 28일, 일부 기후 운동가들이 던진 수프에 맞았다.

 

그들의 주요 관심사는 프랑스의 식량 부족과 기아였으며, 이 이야기를 미디어를 통해 그들의 메시지를 전파하려는 의도였다. 당연히 이 이야기는 많은 주목을 받았고 활동가들은 즉시 쫓겨났다.

일명 Just Stop Oil 조직의 구성원과 같은 많은 기후 운동가들은 메시지를 전파하려는 의도로 음식으로 많은 예술 작품을 위협해 왔다. 음식을 던지는 행위는 예술 작품에 음식을 던져 낭비하는 것이기 때문에 그들의 메시지에 아이러니가 있다.

이들 기후 운동가들은 교통을 방해하고 끊임없이 소리를 지르며 다른 사람들의 예술 경험을 망치고 있기 때문에 언론과 민간인들에게 인기가 없다. 모나리자가 플렉시글라스 벽 뒤에 갇혀 있고 발사체로 보호되어 있는 것을 보면 이 활동가들은 어리석은 이미지로 보인다.

 

이 사건은 반란의 표시로 모나리자에게 케이크를 던진 지 불과 몇달 만에 일어난 일이었다. 그들의 이데올로기는 지구에 대한 공감의 큰 표시로 간주될 수 있지만 이러한 아이디어의 전달은 대중에게 좋지 않은 평가를 받는다. 이러한 예술 작품의 음식 테러는 그들의 기후 행동 목표를 뒷받침하는 것이 아니라 단순히 박물관의 관객을 방해하고 그들의 조직을 수치스럽게 만드는 것이다.

Climate Activists, Throw Soup at the Mona Lisa

The Mona Lisa, one of the most famous and valuable art pieces by Leonardo Da Vinci, was hit by a thrown soup by some climate activists. 

Their main concerns were food shortages and hunger in France, intending to make this story viral to spread their message. Unsurprisingly, this story gained a lot of attention, and the activists were kicked out immediately.

Many climate activists like members from the organization Just Stop Oil, have been terrorizing a lot of artwork with food, with the intent of spreading their message. The action of throwing at food was ironic to their message, as it is the food they are wasting by throwing it at the art pieces. 

These climate activists are not popular with the media and civilians, as they are disrupting traffic, constantly yelling, and ruining the art experience for others. These activists look idiotic, as the Mona Lisa is held behind a plexiglass wall, protected by projectiles.

 

This event was only a couple months after a cake was thrown at the Mona Lisa as a sign of rebellion. Their ideologies may be looked at as a great sign of empathy to our planet, but the delivery of these ideas are looked upon poorly by the public. These food terrorism of artwork are not supporting their goal of climate action, rather simply disrupting the audience of the museum and putting shame on their organization.
